Film Copies

We can duplicate x-rays or any other diagnostic images that are printed on film.

Send them to us with a note requesting copies (so that we do not issue a radiologic report on them!).

All sizes are $11 each, except that 14x36" are $24 each.

FILM COPYING:
Copy films are nearly identical to the original films, except that they have a tendency to be slightly more contrast-y than the originals.  This cannot be helped.

Analytical markings should be removed before submitting x-rays for copying.

It is highly recommended that you not place typed labels over the exposed ID on x-rays.  When duplicated, the light cannot go through the label, so that the ID is solid black where the opaque label was affixed.  If this occurs, you will need to type an ID label for the copies before you send the copies elsewhere.

Regarding full spine 14x36" films:
There is no such thing as 14x36"
duplicating film (nor is there a commercially-available 14x36" copy box). 14x36" films must be copied on two 14x17" sheets of film, one extending from the top of the original film and one extending from the other end when the film is inverted in the copy box.  Since there are therefore only 34" to work with instead of 36", there is frequently an inch or so in the middle of the film which cannot be reached and copied.  If the patient's height does not require the full 36" on the original film, we do our best to match the two 14x17" films in the middle.  Please note, before sending these full spine copies to another facility, that at least one of the halves (and possibly the other half) does not contain a date or any patient identification.  Please add ID.

There is no specific CPT code for copying x-rays.  Use 99070 "Supplies and Materials."  Items billed under this code must be listed.
