OUR
INSURANCE POLICY
We are happy
to prepare and submit insurance billing for patients (see specifics
below).
As a
specialist in diagnostic imaging, Dr. Vlasuk is not a contracted member
of any
discounted insurance networks.
Discounted reimbursement rates do not allow the high level of
rapid and
expert service that Dr. Vlasuk provides.
 |
Better and More Relevant
Information
 |
In addition to a full pathological report, Dr. Vlasuk
includes biomechanical concerns of interest to chiropractic and
naturopathic physicians. Unlike the
typical medical procedure, Dr. Vlasuk performs upright (standing)
x-rays whenever possible. Bending views to
assess spinal motion are also available.
|
 |
Dr. Vlasuk’s reports are much more complete and contain more
clinically-relevant information than is included in a typical medical
radiology report. This often improves
claims handling due to better documentation of the patient’s problem. Dr. Vlasuk specializes in the
neuro-musculo-skeletal system.
|
|
 |
Excellent Image Quality
 |
Film quality and patient position receive meticulous and
unfailing attention.
|
|
 |
Improved Safety
 |
A special high frequency x-ray generator is used, which cuts
radiation doses down at least a third – and often more – as
compared to a typical x-ray lab. Every
other radiation protection technique is zealously employed. Patients can be assured that they are
getting the lowest possible radiation dose.

 |
Personalized Attention
|
 |
Faster Service
 |
X-ray patients leave our lab with their x-rays and Dr.
Vlasuk’s report, so that there is no delay in beginning treatment
|
|
Our fees are reasonable
and in line with other facilities, but - for the above reasons - we
cannot
accept the 50-60% discounts paid by many group insurance networks.
This is what
patients can expect:
Labor and Industries (on-the-job
injuries)
We
handle all billing and there is no charge to patients
under the following circumstances:
 |
The
claim must be open
|
 |
The
accepted diagnosis must be related to the body region being x-rayed
|
Patients need to arrive with their
claim number and date of injury.
(Also needed is a name and address for a self-insurer,
if applicable.)
Personal
Injury (car accidents)
Patients who have PIP (Personal Injury
Protection) coverage
do not have to pay at the time of service. We
handle all billing.
Most companies pay the full amount of our bill.
A few companies discount the bill, in which case the
patient is billed
for the balance. Patients need to
arrive with their full insurance information, including date of
injury, claim
number, claim adjustor, and address to which the claim is
to be sent.
We do not accept liens or bill the
third-party insurer.
Patients without PIP coverage would be
cash patients.
All other Types
of Insurance
 |
Patients pay in full at the
time of service. We do all
the billing for patients and have the reimbursement
benefits sent directly to the patient.
We accept cash, checks, Visa, or
Mastercard.
|
 |
Patients need chiropractic
benefits on their policy in order to receive reimbursement.
|
 |
If patients are covered by a plan that
utilizes a network of contracted providers, patients must have “out of
network” benefits in order to receive reimbursement.
This percentage of reimbursement is less than
what is paid for network providers.
|
 |
If patients are covered by a managed plan that
requires a referral from their primary care doctor, they must be
careful to obtain that referral.
|
 |
Patients need to arrive with their full
insurance information so that we can prepare their billing for them .
|
 |
Medicare.
This
is a chiropractic facility. As such, Medicare does not
pay for x-rays. We bill Medicare for patients, so as to obtain the necessary denial,
so that the bill can then be sent to their gap insurer.
Patients need chiropractic
benefits on their gap policy in order to receive reimbursement.
|
 |
Medicaid.
We
do not deal with Medicaid (even when chiropractic benefits are
available). These would be cash patients.
